Jim for Model Number WM2016CW

I bought this washer used a week ago. It works fine. But when it first starts up. It sound like water pulsating like a machine gun for a few short seconds. Then another few short second. I am assuming this is the Detergent being watered down into the tube. Then the water runs smoothly into the tube. Later when the rinse starts. The same thing happens again. I am thinking that this is the Softener draining into the tube next. My question is this. I this sound of pulsating water normal? It is rattling my water pipes and is noisy in the house when it does this. Are the solenoids dirty inside and sticking? If so. Can they be cleaned? Should I just replace the part?

Answer

Jim, the "water pulsating like a machine gun for a few short seconds." would not be the water being directed to the detergent or softener being dispensed or "draining into the tube". You may want to replace both inlet valves 5220FR2075L / 5220FR2075L Water Inlet Valve and 5220FR2006H / 5220FR2006H Water Inlet Valve. being a "used" machine there's no telling how long the machine set before you got it. The internal diaphragms, could have deposits or gotten "stiff" and are fluctuating as the water passes through the valve body. It could also be "water hammer" in your plumbing, you'll want to check for proper water flow and pressure at the faucets, if the problem persists.
