Thomas for Model Number NX58H5650WS/AA-0000 How to I check if the Hot Surface Igniter is bad or not? Can I use an ohm meter on it?
Answer Thomas, Yes, you can use a multi meter to test the the hot surface igniter for voltage, You'll need to trace the igniter wires back to the oven safety valve, place or attach the meter leads to the bake valve terminals and turn the oven on to a bake selection and temperature. You should have a reading of 3.2 to 3.6 VAC across the two(2) wires, if not the igniter is weak and needs to be replaced. Another method would be to use a "clamp on" ammeter, basically access the igniter, program a bake cycle and temperature, open the meter clamp and place it around one of the igniter wires,. As the igniter glows, the meter should have a reading of 3.2 to 3.6 amps. If not the igniter is weak and needs to be replaced. Just Be Very Careful, these are "LIVE" Voltage checks, and the area can get HOT , so be very careful. Thanks, Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 2, 2018
