Kehoe for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA-0001

Hi, I have noticed the flex drawer light randomly comes on. More recently I have noticed ice is melting from ice maker. After reading several posts I found the fridge stops cooling if the fridge senses the door open. The likely culprit is the reed sensor. I located the reed sensor and magnet on the right corner, however this is connected to a harness of other wires and not and individual reed switch. I have looked at many diagrams for this fridge but don't see this part. Secondly, I'm not sure if it is the reed switch because the door could be working fine all day without anybody touching it than randomly have the light come on with the alarm sounding than just as quickly start functioning again. Any advice would be appreciated. TY

Answer

Kehoe, the mid drawer switch can be tested from the main control at connection CN76 from pin 13 (with red probe of meter) to pin 10 (with black probe of meter). When closed, there should be 0VDC and 5VDC when open. If this tests good, then the most likely issue is the flex zone panel control. If the voltages do not change, then the switch has failed. If there is no voltage output at all, then the main control has failed. The REV number of your model would be necessary for ensuring that the correct parts can be found.
