John R Long for Model Number Samsung RB215LASH Fridge Freezer compartment too warm. Refer compartment too cold. Unit ices up. I had a repairman out, He thawed it out over 2 hours. Told me it would be OK until it froze up again , but needed parts. I told him to order parts and fix it..He said over $4 to $500..I said , "OK, do it. " He said they are only built to last 8 to 10 years, then left and called me next day and said parts are no longer available. I decided to look on internet myself and it seems to me it needs a circuit board and that you have them available. Am I correct?
Answer John L, Based on the information provided the cause of the freezer freezing up could be the defrost heater, terminator/thermostat or the control board. With this said you would need to determine which of the parts was actually causing the problem. The heater & terminator/thermostat for your unit was only available with the purchase of the evaporator assembly, this is the part that the manufacturer has discontinued and is no longer available with no replacement being offered by the manufacturer. This is also the assembly that would have been that expensive as the board is only around $150.00. You need to know which part has actually failed. Read More...
