Answer Dolores, There are several possibilities but check for a worn belt, and "sticky" dirty drum rollers and idler pulley, this will cause a "drag" on the drive system and produce an odor and cause the motor to overheat and open the motor overload circuit. Clean and vacuum out the cabinet interior carefully, clean and lube the drum rollers, shafts, and glides.
