Bill for Model Number Dacor wall over CPS230 How do you remove the over door so you can replace the inner window package part # 12470 ?
Answer Hello Bill, This job will require a screwdriver, usually a Philips head medium sized, a shipping blanket or something similar to prevent the glass chips from going all over the floor. The power should be turned off to the unit to avoid the possibility of an electric shock. Open the oven door and remove the screws on the inside face of the door. If the door can be removed easily, you can remove it, but it is not necessary to do that. If you place the pieces in order as you remove them, this can avoid confusion and frustration during the re-assembly of the door. I also place the screws in order so they go back in the same holes in case of a difference in screw shaft diameter. The oven glass is usually held in by tabs, similar to a picture frame. Pull the tabs back to release the glass. Carefully remove the old glass from the frame. If it is broken, it is a good idea to wear mechanics gloves to prevent injury. For many newer ovens, you will have three layers of glass. Perform the same procedure for each pane. If you have a shop vac you can use this to clean up the glass shards so you don’t have to risk injury picking up the chips. When the old glass is removed, simply replace each pane of glass and press the tabs back in place for each one and replace the brackets or inside pieces of the door, and secure with the screws.
