D.J. for Model Number Dacor SGM466 How do you remove the old igniter? My cooktop is fixed in place. Thanks
Answer Hello D.J., Remove the burner cap and remove the burner fastening ring. This can usually be accomplished by putting the tips of a pair of needlenosed pliers into the grooves in the ring and use a screwdriver in the pliers handles for leverage. You will need to turn off the gas and disconnect the power. Raise the burner, unplug the wire from the igniter and remove the clip securing the igniter to the top assembly. Remove the igniter and install the new igniter in reverse order. Before re-assembly, place a small amount of any kind of grease, (lard does fine), to prevent seizing of the fastening ring.
