Not Easy To Install for Model Number SMH9207ST This is more of a repair help. I wanted to share my installation with you since I was not able to find any tips when I was looking. While waiting for the replacement you can try heating the old membrane with a blow dryer. The ‘stuck’ buttons may become ‘unstuck’ long enough until the replacement is received. I disassembled and removed the door from the microwave itself in order to install the new membrane. You could try to remove the membrane and install the replacement without removing the aluminum face plate first. I used a Philips head screw driver, flat screw driver, needle nose pliers, and a flashlight, as well as a hair blow dryer. 1. Unplug the microwave! 2. Remove the plastic cover on the inside of the door. There are no screws and just unsnaps. 3. Now there are four screws fastening the metal part of the door to the exterior plastic door (glass is part of the exterior, plastic door). 4. There are plastic tabs around the perimeter of the metal door. Carefully bend to release the interior metal door (this may release the exterior plastic door from the hinge. Best if there is someone holding the door while trying to unsnap the two parts. 5. Once the tabs are released you can separate the two door parts to expose a circuit board at the bottom of the door. Remove the screw fastening the silver colored connection and the two other flat cable connections to the circuit board before removing the two screws fastening the circuit board to the exterior plastic door. 6. If the exterior plastic door is still connected carefully remove it now. Be sure to untangle the wire harness as you go (with circuit board attached). 7. The aluminum face plate surrounding the membrane has to be removed as it slightly overlaps the membrane. The aluminum face plate is fastened via small tabs on the inside of the door. Carefully straighten these tabs from the inside. 8. Turn over the door to remove the aluminum face plate. Unfortunately this is not easy as mine was also fastened by double sided tape around the perimeter. Use the blow dryer to heat the aluminum and loosen the glue. You do not want to bend the aluminum by prying to hard. I could not find a replacement for just this part (it does not seem to be available anymore). 9. Once the aluminum face plate is painstakingly removed you can remove the membrane, which is also fastened with the adhesive on the back. 10. After removing the defective membrane remove the paper covering the adhesive on the back of the new membrane and adhere it to the place provided. Be sure to place about in the middle so the edges will be covered by the face plate. 11. Now just reverse steps 9 through 1 to reinstall the door. Before installing the aluminum face plate again you may have to carefully bend it back into shape as the tabs will only secure in certain spots and it may not re-adhere to the remaining double sided tape again.
