Robert for Model Number maytag A613 Washer fills with water, but there is no agitation. There is no motor hum when the washer should be agitating. It is as if the motor is not getting the signal that it is time to start agitating. However, the spin cycle works fine--water drains and machine spins and the timer advances the spin cycle ok. I tried replacing the timer, part no. 206228, but it doesn't change anything. Any advice? Thanks, Robert
Answer Robert, First check the speed control switch, make sure one of the buttons is pressed and locked down in place, then check the switch circuit. Since you've already tried a timer, and you're sure you wired it correctly, you'll need to check the wires to the motor for damage or loose connections. The timer reverses the polarity (direction of electrical current) to the motor to make it reverse directions, if the motor runs in the spin cycle, it should also run in the agitate direction as well.
