The Filter Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This component is responsible for trapping food particles and debris, preventing them from recirculating during the wash cycle and ensuring that dishes come out clean.

Causes of a bad filter assembly can include accumulated debris, regular wear from repeated use, or damage from harsh cleaning agents. A compromised filter can reduce the dishwasher’s cleaning performance and lead to buildup inside the machine.

Symptoms of a bad filter assembly include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Slow drainage or standing water in the dishwasher
  • Visible damage or clogging of the filter

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Hello George, The feed tube will twist out of the way. The internal rear feed cap rotates to the right to about the 2 o'clock position to be removed. The feed tube can also be removed from the clips in the rear if so desired. Once the internal rear feed cap is removed, remove the screws and the accumulator assembly and you will have access to the chopper blade area of the pump. Be sure to check the chopper blade shaft for breakage. If a piece of glass gets into the chopper blade, it will break the shaft that supports it and will make noises and food particles will accumulate in the pump. This will cause a no drain situation. Be sure to let us know if any more assistance is required.
