Matt S for Model Number 11028902790 I replenished the transmission fluid, replaced the base assembly, the basket drive, the transmission clutch, the outer tub seal, and the entire inner basket., the agitator dogs. A lot of work, but the machine was 20 years old and needed a bit of help. I reassembled and after about 8 loads of laundry, I am starting to hear a medium-to-high-pitch squeal coming from the machine. I was wondering if there is some grease that I needed to add. I assumed that the base, which had the bearings and seals already installed from the factory, would be greased. Any ideas where I should look or what I should do to troubleshoot/correct this squeal? Thanks, Matt
Answer Hello Matt, the base glides are self-lubricating, no grease needed, you did not say if noise occurs all time, or just in agitation or just in spin. A high pitch squeal is caused by a rotating part. At this point, you would need to remove the front cabinet and determine when the noise occurs and from what area. Read More...
