Carey for Model Number RBD245PDQ14

I've about had it with this oven... started out with clock display dim...then bright... then dim again...then oven would shut off after preheat... then no display at all and oven wouldn't come on. I replaced the control board... clock came on... then after a minute... beeps and code F5 E1 comes on... I replaced the door latch assembly... still get same code... I replaced the sister board... same thing... I replace the control board again... same thing... I do get a code of F2 E1 after the F5 E1 has been on a few minutes. What now? The touch pad? I'm out $600 and still no working oven.... I'm in too deep to quit!

Answer

Hello Carey. For the F2 E1, that is a keypad error. As for the other code, you need to check the wiring harness and see if it is bad on the unit. Do this test also, 1. Check the latch assembly: latch arm pivot joint, arm/motor connection, plunger and hook springs. 2. Check the Latch Motor: - Check for firm electrical connections. - Disconnect the two wires from the motor and measure the resistance of the motor. The resistance should be approx. 2450?.If the motor is open (8?) or shorted (0?), it should be replaced. 3. Check the Latch Switch. Disconnect it and use a continuity tester: - Door latched = switch closed, continuity should read 0?. - Door unlatched = switch open, continuity should read 8?. 4. Check Door Open/Closed Switch. Disconnect it and use a continuity tester: - Door open = switch open, continuity should read 8?. - Door closed = switch closed, continuity should read 0?. 5. Check Sister Board. - Check connections, latch motor – sister board. - Replace sister board. 6. Check power and element connections. 7. Replace control.
