Valerie for Model Number KSM90WW Mixer will not turn on after mixing potatoes. It was more full than usual but not overloaded, also it did not run for more than 3 minutes. Mixer did not smoke however it did have a metal smell to it. Could it be the motor brushes? This is the classic purchased in 1999. Thank you

If it has free movement, the gears would need to be inspected to identify if there is any obstruction (shaved gears can leave a shaving build-up that can cause strain) that could be causing excessive strain on the motor.
