The Motor Brush is an OEM part for Whirlpool mixers. It is designed to conduct electricity between the stationary and rotating parts of the motor, allowing the motor to function effectively.

Causes of a bad motor brush can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, buildup of carbon deposits, or damage due to electrical issues. Over time, the brushes can wear down, leading to reduced conductivity and motor performance.

Symptoms of a bad motor brush include:

  • The mixer motor not running or running intermittently
  • Sparking or unusual noises coming from the motor area
  • Reduced mixing performance or failure to operate at certain speeds

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Valerie, it would be recommended that the motor W11133634 be inspected for free rotation to identify if it is starting to seize up. If it has free movement, the gears would need to be inspected to identify if there is any obstruction (shaved gears can leave a shaving build-up that can cause strain) that could be causing excessive strain on the motor. If these check good, it is likely that the brushes WPW10380496 are not making proper contact with the motor.

Hello Dan. The brushes should have been attached to the spring. If they are gone, then the new brushes should just install into the slot. You can turn the mixer over on its side to see if they will come out from there by shaking it if they are still in there.
