Jd G. for Model Number WHIRLPOOL KT2651 (Kitchen Aid 6qt Professional Mixer) For our mixer, this gear striped a couple of teeth on gear (AP3854320)... Though it still ran/runs quietly, the mixer would "stick" and need a nudge to continue mixing...while installing the new gear, I noticed that the engagement to the motor drive gear is not smooth, it is a a bit stiff with noticeable interference as the gears are rotated by turning the motor by hand (clunky?). The worm gear engagement is very smooth. After replacing the gear cover and running the mixer, the gear noise is unbearable. The currently available gear is an "upgrade"... has Whirlpool changed the pitch on the gear? Can this be corrected by replacing the motor with (which is the only way to change the drive gear)?
Answer Hello JD. Did you check and clean the gear shaft? Are you positive this is a gear noise and not a motor hum or chatter? Thanks! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, May 20, 2011
