Ferd for Model Number LDE8414ACE Two tall baffles were loose and broke off. How do I access the drum to replace them? The lint filter on my Maytag model LDE8414ACE is inside the dryer. The video only shows a dryer with the lint filter on the top. Thank you.
Answer Ferd, Your Maytag dryer is slightly different. Remove power to the dryer fist. Remove the front panel, remove two(2) Phillips head screws in the detent area of the panel, and swing the panel out at the bottom until the retainer clips release from the top panel. Label and disconnect the wires from the door switch, and set the panel aside, out of the way. You may want to lay a towel or similar article on top of or over the heater cone assembly( to reduce scratches and cuts) slowly turn the tumbler so the broken baffle is aligned to the right front corner of the dryer base panel (4 or 5 o'clock position). Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet wrench. with a 5/16 inch socket. With the tub/baffle at the 4 or 5 o'clock position there's room to set the wrench and socket on the baffle mounting screw and remove / replace it. Read More...
