Ron B for Model Number wfw9200sq02 My Whirlpool Duet front loader is only 4 years old and it has started to make "Knocking" noises when it goes into high speed spin cycle. Durig normal wash, it's quiet. I have read that the duet washers have experienced problems related to kncking noise caused by the "spider" mounted to the back of the tub basket corroding and cracking. Some people say this can be verified without disassembly by shaking the inner tub to see if a noise occurs? Does this sound right before I spend +$300 for a new tub basket?
Answer Ron, Thats one way of checking, another way, is to turn the tub so a baffle/lifter is on the bottom, grasp the front edge lip of the tub, with your finger tips, place your thumbs on the bottom of the opening, and lift up with your fingers, there should be very little if any movement from the tub, if you feel or see it move up, you've got a badly worn tub bearing or a broken support arm on the spin basket.
