Part Number: OEM18027387
Manufacturer Part Number: WP40111201

The Belt is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers that is responsible for connecting the motor to the drum to allow it to tumble. Over time, dryer belts can stretch, wear out, or even break, leading to a drum that won't turn and clothes that don't dry properly. Length: 93 3/8" Width: 3/8" has 5 ridges.

Symptoms of a bad Dryer Belt include:

  • The dryer motor running but the drum not turning.
  • A squealing or thumping noise coming from the dryer.
  • The dryer not starting at all.

Causes of failure can include regular wear and tear from the dryer's operation, overloading the dryer beyond its capacity, which puts extra strain on the belt, or a misalignment that causes uneven wear.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Answer

Robert, To access the belt, there is a service panel at the bottom of the front. You will first need to disconnect the power supply. Remove the screws at the bottom of the panel. Lift the bottom of the panel outward to release the spring clips and panel locators. Remove the screws holding the front panel located at the bottom of the panel and lift the bottom of the front panel outward to release from top panel. You will need to lift the main top by removing the screws securing the cabinet top to the side panels. When you disconnect the door switch make sure that you mark the wires to ensure that you know how they are connected or take a picture of how they are connected. You will then remove 4 screws holding the front bulkhead assembly. This will allow you to take the belt off.
