Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10388414

The Drive Belt is an OEM part for Whirlpool front load washing machines. It transmits power from the wash motor to rotate the tub assembly, tumbling clothes during cycles. The belt is designed with deep grooves to securely grip the motor and tub pulleys. It measures 48.22” long uninstalled and will stretch to 51.53” when installed.

Causes of a bad Drive Belt can include cracks developing from repeated flexing during operation or stretching over many years. Debris trapped in the belt path can also wear down the belt prematurely.

Symptoms of a bad belt include:

  • The washing tub failing to spin or agitate clothes
  • Abnormally loud squealing noises from inside the machine
  • The belt slipping off pulleys during cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, and select Kenmore front load washers.

Phil for Model Number GHW9100LW1

My belt has been falling off and now it has snapped. When I put the belt back on the pulley, before it snapped, it seemed to track toward the tub and not stay in line. I noticed that the belt has ridges that fit with the motor pulley and the tub pulley has no ridges. Also, I checked the tub pulley and motor pulley, both seem to be firmly attached. Other than the obvious need for a new belt, is there anything I can do to get this belt to track properly so I do not have to continuously replace it? This will be the second belt this washer has eaten in two years.

Answer

Hi. Make sure the motor and the main pulley both are mounted tight with absolutely no slop. After you install the belt part # WPW10388414, look down at the belt to see if the belt is riding in the center of the motor pulley and the large main pulley. Rotate them a few times to insure that the belt still rides on the pulleys together and adjust as necessary. Thank You.
