Bob for Model Number Kenmore 106.71192101 Hi and thanks for your help. The freezer works fine, but the fridge doesn't get cold. I have the cover off of the back of the freezer and the fan that draws cold air down to the fridge doesn't spin. I taped the door sense so it thinks it closed waited a while and still nothing. Seems either the motor is shot or there's a sensor that tells the fan to come on and that has failed? Is there a way to figure out which it is? Thanks again for the help. -Bob
Answer Bob, It's most likely a bad evaporator fan motor WPW10189703 It is a 120 VAC 60 hz. 15 amp shaded pole motor. There are no sensors or thermostats that control the fan. Basically, whenever the compressor is running, you should also have power to the fan. Use ammeter and check for 120 VAC across the wires/terminals on the fan, if you have the voltage you have a bad evaporator fan motor. Read More...
