David C. for Model Number kenmore dryer about 10 years old. Trying to fix dryer for my sister in law. She says its spins but does not heat up. I looked at heating element but it looks ok. Then I found the red wire that is connected to the thermal block was a little "crispy" and where it connects to the thermal block was melted. If I replace the thermal block and rewire where it is burned do you think this will fix the dryer, and will it be safe? I'm thinking she did not have the wires tightened down correctly. Thank you!
Answer Hello David. Yes, if the wires and the terminal block are burnt, the unit is only getting 120 volts AC and does not heat. It will run on 120 volts. You will need to replace all the burnt components and the unit should heat properly if it is getting 240 volts AC. Hope this helps. Read More...
