Branden for Model Number GX5SHDXVQO2 I have a whirlpool refrigerator.2 door on top and freezer on bottom. I do not have hooked up or use the ice maker. I have defrosted it cause the top fridge does not get below 45 degrees. Yet the freezer is just fine. I was wondering what could be the problem? This is only about 3 to 4 years old. Thank you in advance.
Answer Branden, If you did not find a defrost issue in the freezer compartment, the more likely issue is the "auto damper" WPW10196393 located in the back wall of the refrigerator compartment. If or when the thermistor reaches the temp. cut in temperature it transmits the data to the control board and the control board supplies the circuit and power to open the door in the damper to allow cold air to enter. If the switch motor or door get stuck, there's no air to the refrigerator compartment and the compartment warms up. Of course you need to do the basic checks first, doors close and seal, compartment light goes out when the door is closed, and the shelves and vents are not blocked or overloaded. Read More...
