Mike for Model Number Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04

My Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04 has a bad jazz board (part number 12784415) that needs replacement (verified by a technician). The refrigerator temperature control module looks exactly like the top half of the exploded parts diagram shown on your web page for this part. I would like to order and replace this part myself, but I have 2 critical questions...(1) how do you pull down the temperature control/light module without breaking it? I've successfully removed the light cover (simple enough), but I don't see any screws...when I begin to pull the temperature module downward, there is a lot of resistance and I'm afraid of breaking one or more of the mounting tabs if I try to force it...what's the trick for correctly removing and reinstalling the temp control/light module so that I can access the jazz board? (2) does this replacement jazz board need any 'field programming' prior to use in the Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04, or can it be plugged in and used as it comes out of the box? Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer

Mike, To answer your first question, when you look at the back part of the control you will see 2 slots. Push a flat blade screwdriver into the slots and this will release and drop down the panel. Very easy replacement. There will be programming needed once you get the board installed. If you remove the kickplate on the unit, under the right side there will be a tech sheet. The tech sheet will have programming instructions on it.
