Alex for Model Number Whirlpool gx2shbxvy07 Hello. My whirlpool fridges keeps building ice on the coils in the freezer, then the fridge will heat up. I programmed the fridge Jazz system to manually defrost the coils (long mode) and the defroster worked fine, all ice melted and the fridge cooled as normal. However, after a few weeks, the ice builds up again and I have to defrost manually to fix the problem. I checked all the maintenance tests, and they all pass and I can hear/see that the respectable functions work (for some tests). The Jazz system also seems to have full control of the fans and compressor, and turns off the compressor during the manual defrost program. Considering the defrost function works, would the problem be the control Jazz board (perhaps the timer function integrated into the board)? The Jazz freezer thermostat test (#1) seems to pass (in S mode) and thermistor (#5 shows P), so I'm not sure what other component may be affected without using a multimeter. Thank you!
Answer Alex, There are only 3 components of the defrost system, the heater, the defrost bimetal and the jazz board. When you put the unit into a forced defrost you eliminated the defrost heater and the bimetal as being good since the heater came on. The only other part that would be the issue would be the jazz board which is part number WPW10503278. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, July 9, 2014
