Cyrus K for Model Number Kenmore 110.28522701 All parts of operation seem fine--good agitate, good spin. BUT: At the beginning of spin it makes one God-Awful bang then comes up to speed alright. At the end of spin cycle there's a different huge bang. Drum stops with such a jolt that it turns the entire machine on its feet--about an inch clockwise at each foot. I replaced the clutch and the brake release cam, but, came to feel while in there that neither of those was the needed fix. While there, tried squeezing the spring seats of the brake shoes together with a channel-lock just to see about how strong the spring is. The seats just twisted slightly saying time to stop. So, the spring seems plenty tough alright, OR is it possible for the shoes to stick/seize on the drum so that braking is much too abrupt? On that scenario, starting the next spin cycle would require braking the shoes away from the drum again causing the startup bang! One more piece: After the usual violent stop, when I try to turn the drum against the brake using pins in the vent holes, the brake is strong enough to turn the entire machine on the floor. Sure ready for good ideas!! Thanks in advance!
Answer Cyrus, This issue does sound like it would be the brake shoes to grab to rapidly and cause the abrupt stopping. You will want to check the brake to make sure that the brake is good. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, May 5, 2016
