Kennyc for Model Number whirlpool topload you just answered my first question thanks so much #2 i removed motor and gearcase & motor loud sound is still there. possibly a gearcase problem. should the spindle turn fast in spin cycle.i can turn it with my hand while running.
Answer Kennyc, yes the spindle(spin tube) will "turn fast in the spin cycle" once the clutch is engaged and the brake shoe(s) release. If you reverse the direction the agitator shaft will oscillate back and forth. A better idea of the type of noise and the location of the noise would be more helpful. Read More...
