Jay H. for Model Number 110.95861400 I have a problem with my Kenmore/Whirlpool gas dryer model 110.95861.1400. It operates well but with a high pitch squeal after the burner is running for a minute or so. If you change the temp to extra low or air fluff the squeal stops. It starts squealing a minute or so after the heat comes back on. What’s wrong and how do I fix this? This dryer is performing well but the squeal is making me nuts. Jay for Model Number 110.95861400 ANSWER Hello Jay, replace the 2 rear drum rollers WPW10314173 and the drum support shaft WPW10359272. Since this complaint is heat-related, the rear drum rollers/shafts are on the rear bulkhead near the heater duct and may be worn. That wasn’t the problem. I replaced the rear rollers and shafts as recommended but still the squeak. Now that I am a lot more familiar with the inside of this dryer and with the lower front panel off So I can see, I can confirm the squeal comes from the back of the burner assembly and only makes noise when there is flame. Is there an adjustment that might stop this noise? The noise starts just has a really makes a sound and the igniter lights to flame. Please advise. I’m going to purchase a new burner unit but I noticed there’s no step-by-step video for the duet burner. Can you recommend where I can find it?
Answer Jay sounds like a couple of possibilities, The first is an "expansion" rattle caused by the burner cone or burner flue expanding from the heat, causing a rattle or squealing noise. The second possibility would be the drum roller and axle have dried out from the heat and is making the noise, a drop or two of "turbine" oil on the shaft or roller bearing would solve that issue.
