John for Model Number MVWX655DW1 My daughter smells an oily smell when it runs. But it's not leaking any oil that I could see. It's got a 10 year warranty on motor and tank. Assumed that was for the whole drivetrain but the technician told her it's the gearbox which is not in warranty and not worth replacing. Just replace the washer. For 220 we can replace it but any chance it might be the clutch assembly and not the gearbox?
Answer John, unfortunately, the only item that would have oil to produce this smell would be the gearcase W11454734. The clutch would not cause the gearcase to create an oil-burning smell, instead, it would likely be a grinding gear in the gearcase. Read More...
