The Check Valve Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is a component that regulates water flow and pressure, allowing water to enter the dishwasher during designated cycles but preventing backflow. The check valve plays an important role in the overall water distribution system of the dishwasher.

Causes of a bad check valve can include mineral buildup blocking the valve ports over time, damage to the valve mechanism or seals, or decreased valve integrity from wear and repeated use.

Symptoms of a bad check valve include:

  • Leaks or water not properly entering the dishwasher
  • Incomplete or inefficient washing and rinsing cycles
  • Strange sounds coming from the water inlet area
  • Higher water usage due to faulty draining

Note: O-ring included.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Tony for Model Number Whirlpool Imperial dishwaser

We have an 11 year old dishwasher that wont drain. I have pulled the check valve and cleaned it, but the washer still fills with water. Reading help sites it seems like there might be something missing on my valve. Is there anything inside besides a rubber flap? Other than that, when running, it seems like there isn't enough pressure to evacuate the water, the drain line has water and air sloshing back and forth. The line is clear. The motor is running and spraying, but does seem to hum oddly. Any suggestions?

Answer

Tony, Check and make sure the drain system and disposal are not clogged or restricted. The "flapper' is the only thing inside the check valve assembly. It should flip open when the dishwasher drains and remain closed when washing or off. You may want to disconnect the drain hose from the plumbing under the sink, fill the dishwasher, then drain it, to see if the water evacuates properly(less than 60 seconds). You most likely have a damaged drain impeller 675806 or something in the pump housing, and will need to dismantle the pump and check.
