Ron J The bottom oven of my Maytag mgr6775bds gas range quit working after my wife said she heard a pop. I have replaced the igniter since that appeared to be the problem. The old igniter had a break in one of the electric lines like it had a short, The oven still won't come on and the igniter doesn't glow. Are there any fuses etc. ? I read earlier Q/A and plan to test with multimeter. Would the control board have problems with only the lower oven and still function fine for everything else?
Answer Hello Ron, With the bake on have the ignitor disconnected at the connector. Check the wiring on the connector to see if you have 120vac. If there is not 120vac present then you will need to check the wiring back up to the control board for damage. If there is no damage to wiring then you will need to replace the control board WPW10166969. If there is voltage present then the ignitor would be bad. Read More...
