Bill for Model Number Kitchen Aid KSBR25f side by side refriegerator with icemaker

Recently, the icemaker has stopped making ice due to frequent jamming. I determined that the ice stripper was broken on the right side and was not guiding the ejection of ice properly. I ordered a stipper from applicance parts, installed it and reinstalled the icemaker but now nothing works. The LED lights work but nothing else. In one of the answers to a forum question, it was implied that the icemaker door must be re-installed for the icemaker to operate. Is this so, and if so, why would the door matter? Also, is there a CB for the icemaker? I thought maybe disconnecting the four-wire connector may have caused a momentary short and caused a CB to pop. If there isn't an icemaker CB, could there be a lack of connection in the connector itself? Thanks for any help that you may provide.

Answer

Hi Bill. The ice bin door has to be closed with the door closed. This way the ice bin along with the hole in the door flap can allow the infra-red to pass through from the Transmitter to the receiver. When the ice bin is full and the info, cant pass it tells the transmitter to stop making ice. Make sure that your electrical plug is tightly, correctly aligned. All plugs have to be gone over including to the ice maker itself. If it was calling for water before, then it still has to reach the freezer temperatures before it will regulate. It is common for the Receiver/transmitter to go bad. This part is # W11629974. Thank you.
