By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18048867
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10174745

The Control Board is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It controls and regulates the dryer's various functions and cycles. The control board receives input from sensors and user controls, processes this information, and sends signals to different components such as the motor, heater, and drum to execute the desired drying operations.

Causes of a bad Control Board can include power surges, electrical shorts, or simply wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad Control Board include:

  • The dryer not turning on or responding to user input
  • Erratic behavior or error codes displayed on the control panel
  • Individual components like the motor or heater not functioning properly
  • Unexplained shut-offs or resets during the drying cycle

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Todd P for Model Number NGD7500VW1

Our Amana Gas Dryer is working, but isn't completely drying the load of clothes regardless of the cycle type selected. It shuts down in about 15-20 minutes, and takes 2-3 cycles to completely dry the load, particularly if it contains towels or jeans. The dryer is several years old, but in great condition and not presenting any codes. I have vacuumed out the vents and the inside machine ducting, and verified the outdoor vent is not clogged. I have scheduled a Sears home service call for 10/31, but wondering if there is any advice you can offer.

Answer

Todd, This unit has 2 sensor bars at the front of the drum. You will want to try to clean them with rubbing alcohol. If they have build up from static sheets on it then it will cause rapid dryer timeout times and long drying times. If this checks ok then the wire harness would need to be checked to make sure that it is not damaged.
