Julia for Model Number WED9500TW2 My whirlpool duet dryer does not regulate any heat with any temperature setting. It gets too hot and blows the thermal fuse. We have replaced the thermistor, the thermal fuse twice, and the thermostat. My question is does the heater relay On the main control board just tell the heating element to come on or does it regulate its temperature in anyway?
Answer Julia, The heater relay on the machine control board supplies L1 voltage (120 VAC) to the heater element, through the thermal cut out and the high limit thermostat, L2 voltage is supplied to the element through the motor switch. The inlet and outlet thermistors are the components that control the temperature (we would expect an error code if that were the case). Based on your post information, you may want to recheck the exhaust vent pipe and vent hood for clogs and collapse, kinks, etc. then check the blower wheel and housing to make sure there are no obstructions blocking the airflow.
