Donna for Model Number GB2FHDXWB Want to remove the ice maker from my whirlpool bottom freezer. The delivery guy said it was pretty simple; just unscrew 3 screws. But he said I'd need to cover the exposed wire and that I could get a "cover plate" or something to that effect. Do you know what he was talking about? And if so, do you sell it here? Or, would it be better, in your opinion to just leave the ice-maker in? If so, do I have to make sure the wire handle is always in the "up" position?
Answer Donna, Raising the bail arm on the ice maker works for a while, eventually it gets hit and falls down and the ice maker operates and burns out(on occasion). Your best bet is to reach behind the ice maker and unplug the 4 wire connector from the freezer wall connector and let it go at that, until you can install a water line to the ice maker fill valve assembly.
