Robert for Model Number AP3131673 How do I replace the bearing (AP3131673). I have pulled the ice maker from the freezer. Do I pry up on bearing end of ejector then slide off of ejector?
Answer Hello Robert, The front cover of the ice maker just snaps on, so snap it off. You will see three Phillips head screws which should be removed. Once removed, pull the motor module, (tan plastic part with the big geared wheel on it), off and you will see two larger Phillips head screws down in recessed holes. When they are removed, this frees the harvest rake so you can pull it back and replace the bearing (fill funnel assembly). Be sure when you are re-assembling the ice maker assembly, that the grey material on the back side of the thermostat is reinstalled. This stuff is called thermal mastic and the thermostat will never cycle properly without it. Therefore, if you see any larger "chunks" of it, retrieve them and stick them on the end of the cycling thermostat so it is pinched between the ice mold and the thermostat. Complete the re-assembly in reverse of the dis-assembly. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, July 3, 2012
