For Whirlpool Ice Maker Fill Cup And Bearing Assembly (Part Number: OEM18030435)

Steve, it would be recommended that the fill cup WP628356 and the ice maker 4317943 fill tray are inspected for any cracks. If there are no cracks, then it would be likely that the ice maker is calling for too much water and overfilling. If this is the case, the ice maker would need to be replaced.

Joe, In most cases, the reason for this is the water valve not sealing and water is slowly seeping through.W10408179 Another issue could be air in the lines, for example, if you replace your filter and don't purge the system.

Hello Lani, that is due to the design of the ice maker, the fill cup is held in place by the ice cube ejector bar which is held in place by the ice maker head assembly.

John for Model Number JRSD209A

With the ice maker on, the fridge makes ice properly, however there is a leak somewhere I cannot find. Ice forms at the bottom of the freezer. If I clean the ice out and turn off the ice maker, then there is no build up of ice at the bottom of the freezer. I can't see any leak in or around the ice maker, but it goes through a flexible plastic wall at the back that I can't see around. Any clue where this is coming from? The only thought I had was the leak only occurs during the fill process which I have not witnessed.

John, In most cases when you are getting water in the bottom of the freezer it would be caused by a clogged defrost drain tube so would recommend checking that. If this checks ok then it would most likely be an issue with the fill tube leaking when filling with ice.

John , The first part to check or replace is the water inlet valve W10833899 on the back of the refrigerator. If the valve seeps water it will trickle through the fill tube and make the ice cube tray overflow and freeze the cubes in the tray/bin.

Hello Telly, This is an indication of either a stopped up defrost drain or a problem with the icemaker or water inlet valve. If your model number is actually MFI2665XEM7, you should check for lumps of ice in the ice bin. If none is there, the rear wall will need to be removed and the defrost drain thawed with a hair dryer. The drain should then be chased with a piece of weed eater line. Then put in one tablespoon of white vinegar to prevent algae formation. If there is lumps of ice in the ice bin you will need to verify good water pressure to the water valve. If this is good, the water valve is the first suspect but either the icemaker or the water valve can cause this issue.

Hello Jim. You need to check the hole in the bottom of the fill cup and see if the hole is clogged with ice. If so, clear it out and see if that resolves the issue. If the issue returns, replace the water valve on the unit.

Hello Phil, Sounds like the water valve 12001414 has failed. If this is the case the fill tube to the icemaker will normally be frozen up. If it is, thaw it out with a hair dryer. It is also possible that the icemaker D7824706Q could have a burned set of contacts and is not sending the voltage to the water valve but this is less likely.
