Bubbleboy for Model Number DG712 - series 02 I am working on a Maytag gas dryer DG712. It only heats when it wants to for brief 10 minute cycles...not consistent except that it stops heating at some point in a cycle.
Answer BubbleBoy, Hopefully the issue is a weak set of gas valve coils, 279834, You'll want to start the dryer on a heat setting/cycle and allow it to run 10 or 15 minutes, the remove the success panel in the right front corner and observe the gas valve operation. The glow bar should glow for 30 or so seconds, start to fade and the gas burner should ignite. If the burner doesn't ignite, suspect the gas valve coils. If all's ok, you'll have to suspect the Y305945 control switch. There are two momentary contact circuits in the switch, if they get stuck closed, the dryer can quit heating, and in some cases the dryer won't shut off at the end of the cycle. Read More...
