Jim D. for Model Number Maytag Washer MAH8700AWW Our washer is about 7 years old. It started making a lot of noise and we called a tech in to look at it. He said we needed to replace the rear drum bearing and assembly. He quoted $550 for the job. I decided to tackle this myself and I replaced the assembly yesterday. We think it is still noisy and it shakes more than before it got noisy (say, about a month ago or more). What I want to know is should I replace the four dampers that support the outer tub to settle this thing down? I will definitely be pulling it out again later this week to recheck for any loose bolts, nuts, etc. If I do that, I will replace any other parts that need replacement at that time. Also, while I am at it, should I replace the drive belt? I don't want to waste money on this, but it would be nice to have some piece of mind for the next five years or so. Thanks, Jim D.
Answer Hello Jim. I would check and see if the shocks are cracked or broken on the unit and if not, I would look to see if anything is loose. Also, make sure the shaft on the inner basket is not worn and needs to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, February 13, 2013
