Manufacturer Part Number: WP8558129

The Detergent Dispenser Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to store and release detergent and rinse aid at the appropriate times during the wash cycle. This component ensures that your dishes are cleaned efficiently by dispensing the correct amount of detergent for optimal washing performance.

Causes of a malfunctioning dispenser can include mechanical failure of the latch or spring mechanism, clogging due to detergent buildup, or electrical issues preventing the dispenser from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad Detergent Dispenser Assembly include:

  • Detergent not being dispensed correctly, leading to poorly cleaned dishes.
  • The dispenser door not opening during the cycle or failing to latch properly before starting.
  • Leakage of detergent from the dispenser, indicating a seal failure.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Jack G. for Model Number KULDS01DJBL

The replacement soap dispenser I purchased for KULDS01DJBL does not have an electrical connection for the soap dispenser. The soap dispenses appropriately, but the rinse aid does not. You mentioned in one of your answers that this is supposed to be "like a ratchet". That the second jolt of electrical current would activate the rinse aid. Is the fact that this does not seem to be working a fault of the dispenser or something electrical in the dish washer? Also, how does the rinse get from the dispenser into the wash?

Answer

Hello Jack, There is a small opening a the bottom of the dispenser assembly that the rinse aid is dispensed through every other time the solenoid is activated. This puts the rinse aid into the tub and it is circulated throughout the washtub by the rinse water. As a note, I believe you will find that the model number will most likely be KUDS01DJBL0. If the soap is not dispensing, the dispenser assembly is either defective or the control WP8564543 is not sending the voltage for the detergent dispense properly.
