Eric for Model Number 665.16269400 I inherited this model dishwasher and it is obvious someone has worked on the dispenser before 8558129 rev 07. The dishwasher leaks from the bottom of the front panel. After removing the panel and running the dw it was obvious the leak was coming from the seal at the "top" of the dispenser. However, this dispenser looks like it was installed upside down so the solenoid is now on the right with the wire terminals entering from the top. This seems opposite of all the installation videos I have watched. 4 questions: 1. Did this model have a different orientation or did it get installed incorrectly? 2. I noticed the flange or gasket edge of the dispenser where it presses against the stainless steel dishwasher interior was concave on one side "top" and flat on the other side "bottom" . Is this normal? Could installing this upside down cause a leak? 3. When I fill the rinse aid with water and put the cap on, (while it is removed from the dishwasher), all of the water leaks out of the bottom. This doesn't seem normal unless it needs to be installed so the mounting seal also acts like a seal to keep in the rinse aid? 4. Do you sell a dishwasher safe RTV sealant or similar product?
Answer Eric, Your post information would indicate the dispenser WP8558129 / WP8558129 was installed incorrectly. Yes, an improper installation will allow the dispenser to leak. You want to remember when you reinstall the dispenser, you need to clean the mounting and door panel surfaces, to make sure you have a good clean surface for the seal to seat and seal properly. Remember, the door has to "swing" up, to open. If you follow the video attached to the WP482338 part number, you'll do fine, only difference being your machine has a stainless steel panel. As for a sealant, A food grade silicone RTV sealant would be best and safest to use WP482338 / WP482338. Both parts are in stock and available at this time. Thanks, Read More...
