By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12204903
Manufacturer Part Number: 61003647

This refrigerator door closer restores smooth, positive door action. When worn, the door can click, bind, or swing open. Replacing it helps the door seal properly to maintain temperatures and limit frost or moisture.

  • Provides cam action at the bottom hinge for smooth opening and a positive close
  • Helps pull the door shut during the last inches of travel to maintain gasket contact
  • Typical wear symptoms: popping/clicking at the lower hinge, door that won't stay closed, or poor sealing
  • Visual clues include flat spots, grooves, or cracks on the cam surface
What's included: 1 door closer. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and remove items from the door for safety and to reduce weight
  • Lift the door off the bottom hinge; transfer/install the closer in the same orientation as the original
  • Reassemble, then verify the door self-closes and the gasket seals evenly
  • Use care not to pinch or distort the door gasket during reinstallation

Don, You will need to remove the refrigerator door. Remove the bins from the door and everything in the dairy compartment. Close the door and remove the hinge cover, and the three 5/16 in. hex head bolts, holding the top hinge to the referigerator cabinet. and remove, or turn the hinge to clear the cabinet. Open the door a couple of inches, be careful not to let the door twist or drop, and lift the door straight up off the lower hinge. Lay the door on a pad on the floor, on edge, handle down is easiest.Remove the screw holding the closer to the bottom edge of the door.
