Michael I have a whirlpool WED9470WW1 and need to replace the door latches. I watched the video where it shows I have to remove the door and take it apart to remove the "female" portion of the latch. But in one of the responses to one of you customer's questions it says this can be done by using a flat putty knife or an ice pick from the outside. I am hoping you will say that I don't have to take the door apart and can remove it from the outside. Do I have this correct?
Answer Michael, Since it appears that the catch is on the door you can try to use a putty knife and get under the catch to release it without having to take the door apart. You will want to go in from the top and the bottom to release the tabs. If unable to get this way then the door panel would need to be removed. Read More...
