Answer Greg, You are discussing the cooktop element burners aren't you ? The burners do react slower, especially if you're not used to an electric range. The element gets hot, the heat transfers to the utensil, the utensil transfers the heat to the contents. After all the transfers, it would seem like the elements are cycling too slow, and causing more heat than expected.
