Hi Tracy. The compressor should only get warm to the touch as if you can stand to lay your hand on it for 10-20sec. It should not fry an egg.... Improper air flow is a very common failure if the condenser fan is stopped or not up to speed. Part # 12002738. If the condenser coils are stopped up, then take a shop vac and coil brush part #TJ103 to clear so the freon does not boil. This will overheat a compressor as well. If the back is dirty... Thank You.
