Amanda I haven't used the water dispenser on my refrigerator in about 6 years but would like to start again. Do I need to clean or purge the lines before I do? If so how?
Answer Amanda, Yes, you would want to "flush" and purge the system before you use it again. Once you're sure you have water to the fill valve connection, install a new filter. Then using a large slender container, dispense 2 or 3 gallons of water through the dispenser. This should flush any debris in the system out and purge any air in the system so the dispenser won't drip after dispensing water. After six years, you'll want to check and make sure there are no leaks or loose connections in the tubing or connectors, before you move thee refrigerator back into position. Read More...
