Shirlene I had a water heater replaced and the guy had to turn the main water supply off but when he finished and turned the water back on, my filter to my refrigerator literally broke out and water was going everywhere. Is that caused by air being built up because the the water was off and it was too much pressure?
Answer Hello Shirlene, The pressure would have to be what caused it to burst. All I can figure is that since air can be compressed and liquid cannot, the water pressure rushing in had to have built up excessive pressure from the airs' compression. I would have the water pressure regulator to the home checked by the utility board or your plumber. This isn't something that you hear about happening unless there was a weak place in the filter that would have burst anyway or excessive pressure is present in the water supply. Read More...
