Barbara F for Model Number KitchenAid refrid model no. Kscs25fbv1 01 Water filter whirlpool 4396710 was dry when auto reminder went off. We remember past used filters had water inside when we removed them. How can we tell if filter is actually "filtering" the water. The water seems to taste fine but maybe it just tastes better than tap because it is cold. Can something be clogged preventing water from going through? How can we check this? Thanks for your help.
Answer Hello Barbara, More than likely if the filter is dry then it did not get pushed in all the way. If the cap was sticking out and not sitting flush this would be the case. When you install the filter you should hear a rush of water going into the filter. You then want to purge the water line with about 3 gallons of water. Just after you start purging there will be break in the water flow due to air in the lines. The water when it is cold will taste different than tap water. Read More...
