This dishwasher drain hose channels wastewater from the pump to your home drain or air gap. Replacing a cracked, kinked, or clogged hose restores proper draining performance and helps prevent leaks or water backing into the tub. What it does:

  • Routes wastewater from the dishwasher to the household drain or air gap
  • A damaged, kinked, or blocked hose can cause slow/no drain, standing water, or leaks
  • Visible splits, soft spots, or persistent odors/backflow are common signs the hose should be replaced
  • Restores reliable draining and helps protect surrounding cabinets and flooring from water damage
What's included:
  • 1 drain hose
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water before servicing
  • Pull the dishwasher forward and place a towel or pan to catch residual water
  • Match the original routing and maintain a proper high loop or air gap per local code to prevent backflow
  • Secure connections with clamps, ensure the hose isn't kinked, and run a test cycle to check for leaks

Bob for Model Number Maytag MDB4651AWB serial number starts with 37

The dishwasher was not draining properly. The flow to the drain seems to be weak and it seemed that the timer was turning off the pump before the water was gone. I checked the interior filters (Filter plate (reference 2 in the Pump and motor parts diagram) and pump filter (6) and found some soap or mineral deposits. That I removed as best I could. I also checked the rest of the interior water paths. The baffle (14) to the water pump seemed to be clear. This did not solve the problem, perhaps some of the soap/mineral crud is clogging somewhere. I have disconnected both ends of the drain hose (Item Number: AP4114287 Manufacturer's Number: 99002652) and tried to pour water through it. It did not flow easily, but with significant effort I was able to blow water through. Is that normal or is there a problem with the hose? If I have to check the pump further, do I need to remove the dishwasher from under the counter to reach it? Thanks, Bob

Answer

Bob, It sounds like you may have a restricted or kinked drain hose WP99002652, You may have to remove the dishwasher to check ? Based on your post that's the most likely issue. Your drain pump [AP4364233} is located in the right rear corner of the dishwasher and can be removed without disturbing the dishwasher, but it can be a "tight" squeeze. You may wan to remove it and check the impeller for damage.
