Larbo for Model Number Kenmore 665.12783K311

Everytime we use the dishwasher now, a terrible odor eminates from the waste disposal. There is no standing water in the tub. So, it must be the drain hose. Three questions: 1. The video shows 2 parts to the hose. Are they sold separately and which is usually the culpit in a case like this. 2. The hose does have an air gap loop about 8" high as it leaves the waste disposal and before dropping down to go to towards the bottom of the unit. 3. Can this drain hose be adequately cleaned out and santized without having to uninstall the unit and remove the hose? Thanks.

Answer

Hello Larbo, you should be able to clean out the drain hose without disassembling it by using a dishwasher cleaner like Affresh Dishwasher Cleaner, it has a 2 part compound, one is a cleaning agent, the other is an oxygen bleach. Depending on the build-up in the drain tube you may need to run the cleaner more than once.
