Larbo January 13, 2021 for Model Number Kenmore 665.12783K311 Everytime we use the dishwasher now, a terrible odor eminates from the waste disposal. There is no standing water in the tub. So, it must be the drain hose. Three questions: 1. The video shows 2 parts to the hose. Are they sold separately and which is usually the culpit in a case like this. 2. The hose does have an air gap loop about 8" high as it leaves the waste disposal and before dropping down to go to towards the bottom of the unit. 3. Can this drain hose be adequately cleaned out and santized without having to uninstall the unit and remove the hose? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Larbo, you should be able to clean out the drain hose without disassembling it by using a dishwasher cleaner like Affresh Dishwasher Cleaner, it has a 2 part compound, one is a cleaning agent, the other is an oxygen bleach. Depending on the build-up in the drain tube you may need to run the cleaner more than once. Read More...

Bob October 11, 2018 for Model Number MDB4949SDZ0 This dishwasher occasionally has grayish water sitting in the bottom and a foul odor along with it. Pump seems to clear water at end of wash cycle, and as the unit is not yet 1 year from purchase, I don't believe discharge pump is bad. Is there a check valve somewhere in the drain hose system that may not be working? If so will you give me the part number for this model dishwasher? Can't seem to find it in the manufacturer's parts diagrams. Model mdb4949sdz0 Thank you, Bob
1 Answer Bob, Make sure under your sink where the drain hose ties into your plumbing that there is an air gap. Meaning the hose leaving your drain goes up before it goes back down to the dishwasher. You can use some zip ties is the easiest way to secure the hose where you want it. Read More...

Shawn April 12, 2018 for Model Number whirlpool gu3600xtvb2 Ok, so don't be offended... But I think you are wrong about the check valve. In your reply to Tina you indicated that the hose does not include the check value. HOWEVER, if you look at the picture on your website... Image #2 you'll see that is says, "Do Not Remove - Check Valve Inside" Can you please reconfirm your answer on this? I'm relatively certain that the check valve is not a part of the drain pump assembly. Thank you.
1 Answer Shawn, While the manufacturer does not state that this drain hose has the check valve in it, normally the drain pump would have it on some models and this drain hose should have the check valve in it. Read More...
